The Amber Trust was created to help blind or partially sighted children who have a talent or love for music. For our Annual Concert this year, Amber is delighted to be celebrating our return to live performance with a fantastic afternoon of music featuring the amazing Derek Paravicini and some of our talented young beneficiaries including Lily Barrett, Lydia Beech, Ivan Rodrigues Deb, Lucy Illingworth, Lilly Kurata, Harvey Marston, Eleanor Stollery, Ashleigh Turley and Gracie Vernon performing with Ethan Loch, Poppy McGhee and Takashi Kikuchi.
Please join us afterwards for a glass of wine or soft drink in the foyer to celebrate the achievements of our young musicians. It will also be a special celebration of 16-year-old talented violinist Poppy McGhee's success in winning a Rotary Young Citizens Award 2021 for her tireless effort fundraising for Amber and raising more than £10,000 over the last 9 years.
The afternoon's programme includes a wide range of musical genres from classical to jazz and with musical ensemble arrangements by Abigail Dance and Joanne Wicks of the Global Leaders Programme https://www.globalleadersprogram.com/.
While The Amber Trust is excited to be hosting its first LIVE event since the loosening of social distancing restrictions, many people may still be wary of attending the event in person due to Covid-19.
The safety of all performers and visitors to the Annual Concert at St Paul’s School on September 26, remains a priority for all. We ask those due to attend to please stay at home if you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19.
The Trust has taken steps to mitigate the risks at The Wathen Hall and, as such, we encourage that face masks be worn and will be readily available if necessary for visitors. Hand sanitiser will be available and all communal areas well ventilated.
Performers, volunteers and Amber staff will undergo lateral flow testing prior to arrival, while all shared instruments and surfaces will be sanitised between use.
For those unable to join us and host Amber patron Derek Paravicini, the concert will be broadcast live over the internet - in association with sponsors Caterlyst - via the Trust’s YouTube channel and is available here 2021 Amber Trust Annual Concert.
It is hoped viewers will show their support by donating the cost of a concessionary ticket (£10) via Amber’s text donation service - through which they can text 'AMBER' and the value of their donation (eg. 'AMBER 10') to 70085.
Those attending the concert in person should be aware that, as the event is being filmed, they may appear online and via social media and therefore, may like to sit in the rows at the back of the hall.
All proceeds from the concert will go to the Trust.
