The Art of Slowing Down

The art of slowing down, is a practice of creating inner peace within, a form of grounding- giving us a different lens to see our world. We all have the ability to manage our anxiety and to create a measure of peace. This is a Practice that will teach you how to develop an ability that you can carry with you, cultivating your inner strength. Why Practice this? Because “you will always be there for yourself”.

Class Description:
James will give a brief talk about slowing down to enjoy life with mindfulness and presence. This will also be a time to share together. Then he will guide a short meditation (prep talk). From there, part one of the Practice begins. This is our opportunity to learn and practice some tools to maintain present focus and truly be aware in the here and now of each moment. After part one, we will enjoy a snack and chat then share a briefer guided meditation (reflections). Next, part 2 of The Practice begins which includes some light movement friendly for folks of all abilities. If weather permits, we may move outdoors for this. We will end our gathering with some closing comments and an opportunity to share.
About the Host:
James Magee was born and raised in Maryland. He has 14 years teaching martial arts and has a 3rd degree black belt. James has over 10 years of experience practicing mindfulness daily.
