The Cost of Living and You
Understanding the Bigger Picture — a joint online session brought to you by Ink & Intellekt & AML Finance CIC
With the advent of the Iran war, fuel and grocery prices are meant to rise up again creating more tensions for the common man in Britain. This talk traces the history of the cost of living crisis in the UK we are experiencing from the Thatcher years to COVID 19 explaining why we are we are. It is accompanied by a discussion on how we can improve our own financial wellbeing in a time when spreadsheets can't erase half a century of bad economic policies.
We will explore:
1. The history and origins of the cost of living Crisis
2. The impact on our individual and communal well being
3. How rising costs affect marriages in the searching and the couples phase
4. Spiritual and personal steps to help improve our financial well being.
This is a joint session: Dr Mohammed Sinan Siyech brings the historical and geopolitical context as a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Wolverhampton, with teaching experience at KCL, SOAS and Edinburgh University. Sannah Khan, Founder of AML Finance CIC, brings the money psychology and relationship lens. Together, the aim is a fuller picture than either angle gives on its own — and a space to ask the questions that don't usually come up in either a history lecture or a budgeting workshop.
