2020 Muslim Mental Health Conference (Australia) – Islamic Psychology and Community Mental Health.
Mission of Hope will be hosting a free two-day online conference focusing on the Islamic Psychology and Community Mental Health of Muslims bringing together international presenters and scholars and local clinicians.The conference will be supported by the International Association of Muslim Psychologists (IAMP) and Psychology from an Islamic Interest Group of the APS. Mission of Hope will be bringing together international and locally known academics and practitioners involved in reviving Islamic Psychology as a discipline whilst also covering the mental health issues that most affect Australian Muslims, showcase case studies, emphasise the importance of prevention, identify gaps in service provision, presenting research and building communities capacity in mental health service delivery.
Conference Objectives:
1. To share knowledge on Islamic Psychology, theology, applied, and clinical practice.
2. Increase awareness of the mental health issues facing Muslims and the need to access to culturally and faith appropriate mental health and wellbeing resources// services.
3. To help raise the profile of mental wellbeing in this population group
4. To help decrease the stigma of mental illness within the Muslim community
5. To share and support evidence-based research.
6. To provide a platform for learning, discussion support, and facilitation.
