Beginners+ Class: Basic leg ties - agura, futomomo, calf binders & more
Wed 15 Jan 2025 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM GMT
Description
Have you attended a Thursday beginners class? This is for you.
About the class
In this session, we’ll explore foundational leg ties, including the agura, futomomo, and calf binders, among others. You’ll learn beginner-friendly versions of these classic ties, providing plenty of material for play and building strong foundations to support your progression.
This class is perfect for beginners and especially suited for those who’ve attended at least one of our Thursday evening jams.
You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, refine techniques, and adapt the ties to suit your preferences and style.
Class size is limited to 12 couples, ensuring plenty of individual attention and space to practice.
Who teaches this class?
This session will be led by Anna Bones with model Emily.
Anna Bones discovered rope, with her now-husband Fred Hatt, in 2013 and has been in love with it ever since.
Rope quickly escalated from a side hobby to a full-time job, culminating in the opening of Anatomie Studio (the UK's largest and first full-time Shibari space) which she runs with Fred Hatt since 2015.
Anna has taught and performed with her partner all over the world, but her favourite place is still her local hub, where welcoming and teaching beginners is her main passion. From self-tying, bottoming and rigging, Anna loves it all, although she finds being tied the greatest joy of all.
Anna enjoys learning from different teachers and about different Shibari styles, so when she teaches she can cover a range of techniques and approaches. Regardless of motivation or dynamic, she believes rope can be a great tool for self discovery and for building trust and intimacy within healthy partnerships.
Emily (she/her) has been coming to Anatomie since moving to London in 2021 and in that time has really enjoyed learning through all the courses with different partners as well as self tie workshops. Emily joined the volunteers team in 2023 and started bottoming/co-teaching for beginners in 2024. She is a regular face in the studio!
Schedule

Who can come to this class? Are there pre-requisites
The class is suitable for complete beginners - knowledge of the single column tie is desired - this class is particularly well suited to those who have attended at least one Thursday beginner session and are looking to build on that.
What should I bring and what do I wear?
We have ropes you can use during the class and we have a communal kitchenette, fridge and microwave. Tea and coffee are free but you should bring your food and snacks (we have plates and cutlery you can use). People usually wear comfortable clothing like yoga or dance attire. We advise against loose fitting clothing and also jeans can sometimes feel a bit restrictive to move around in and difficult to tie on.
