Beginners+ Class: "Baby Partials" aka playing with uplines for beginners

Wed 13 Aug 2025 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM BST Anatomie Studio Arch 113 / Unit 17 Station Passage, SE15 2JR

Have you attended a Thursday beginners class? Then this is for you.

About the class

In this session, we will guide you through the process of incorporating up-lines into your floor play, adding depth and gravity to your scenes.

We will cover:

  • The correct techniques for safely and securely locking off up-lines, ensuring both safety and control throughout your play.

  • Practical ideas for creating simple, effective floor-based scenes that utilise up-lines to enhance the overall experience.

  • An introduction to basic body harnesses, focusing on how they can be used for partial play, offering both safety and creative possibilities for different scenarios.

This class is aimed at beginners and is especially suited for those who’ve attended at least one of our Thursday evening jams. You should know how to tie at least a single column tie.

You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, refine techniques, and adapt the ties to suit your preferences and style.

Class size is limited to 12 couples, ensuring plenty of individual attention and space to practice.

Who teaches this class?

This session will be led by Anna Bones with Kaoru Neve modelling

Anna Bones discovered rope, with her now-husband Fred Hatt, in 2013 and has been in love with it ever since.

Rope quickly escalated from a side hobby to a full-time job, culminating in the opening of Anatomie Studio (the UK's largest and first full-time Shibari space) which she runs with Fred Hatt since 2015.

Anna has taught and performed with her partner all over the world, but her favourite place is still her local hub, where welcoming and teaching beginners is her main passion. From self-tying, bottoming and rigging, Anna loves it all, although she finds being tied the greatest joy of all.

Anna enjoys learning from different teachers and about different Shibari styles, so when she teaches she can cover a range of techniques and approaches. Regardless of motivation or dynamic, she believes rope can be a great tool for self discovery and for building trust and intimacy within healthy partnerships.

Kaoru Neve has been practicing Shibari since 2016, exploring its potential for connection, and self-discovery. With a background in education and psychology, she tailors her teaching to individual learning styles, encouraging curiosity and growth. For Kaoru, rope is a powerful tool for both intimacy and community, and she’s passionate about sharing its many possibilities.

Schedule

Who can come to this class? Are there pre-requisites

The class is suitable for complete beginners - knowledge of the single column tie is highly recommended - this class is particularly well suited to those who have attended at least one Thursday beginner session and are looking to build on that.

What should I bring and what do I wear?

We have ropes you can use during the class and we have a communal kitchenette, fridge and microwave. Tea and coffee are free but you should bring your food and snacks (we have plates and cutlery you can use). People usually wear comfortable clothing like yoga or dance attire. We advise against loose fitting clothing and also jeans can sometimes feel a bit restrictive to move around in and difficult to tie on.
