Communication in Rope - with Anna Noctuelle & Pen

This is a class aimed at bottoms, models, and people inside the rope. To get the most out of this class and take part in the practical exercises, we recommend bringing your rigging or tying partner. Couples tickets as well as solo tickets are available for this class. Solo attendees can choose to observe only or pair up and participate.

About the workshop

Rope is more than knots and patterns—it's a conversation. In this all-levels workshop, we’ll explore the many ways we communicate within rope. How do we let our partner into our inner world during a scene? How do we express desire, care, vulnerability, or intensity? And when we do speak, how can our words deepen connection rather than disrupt flow?

Together, we'll dive into both verbal and non-verbal communication in rope: breath, tension, eye contact, body language, and the subtleties that make a scene feel alive. Whether you're tying or being tied, this class invites you to listen more closely, express more honestly, and connect more deeply.

No matter your experience level, come to explore, reflect, and perhaps discover a new language within the ropes.

Who teaches this class?

This class is taught by Anna Noctuelle and Pen.

Anna Noctuelle is a seasoned and versatile Shibari practitioner with over 18 years of experience. Since 2016, she has shared her passion across Europe through teaching, performing, and modelling. With roots in classical dance, breath work, and meditation, Anna brings body awareness, grace, and a sense of calm to her practice. Her background in linguistics and interest in tantra, Buddhism, and yoga inform a thoughtful, communicative approach to rope. Known for creating inclusive, curiosity-driven learning spaces, Anna encourages exploration, connection, and play in every session. (Website: www.anna-noctuelle.com)

Pen (@KinkNamePending) is a UK-based, bottom-leaning rope switch from London who finds deep joy in the connection, vulnerability, and trust that Shibari invites. With a strong interest in anatomy and physiology, he brings a thoughtful, body-aware approach to his rope and kink practice. Pen has appeared as a rope bottom at events across the UK, including Tangled Festival, Lust Supper, Pinky Promise, and Fox Badge. Internationally, he’s performed or taught at Temple NYC, Eurix in Berlin, and Stockholm Pride.
