Improvers Class: TK partials + 3rd rope

Are you looking for a dedicated opportunity to practice and perfect your TK? Looking to learn how to add a 3rd rope for more support and learn to play with partial suspensions?

About the class

Our improvers classes are for anyone who already has some rope experience and is excited to build on what they know.

In this session we’ll revisit the two-rope TK, explore how adding a third rope can bring extra structure, and experiment with loading the TK for partial suspensions.

Along the way we’ll chat about:

  • How to shape the tie and keep bodies safe and "comfortable"

  • Tips for body positioning and movement

  • Variations that work for different body types

  • Details and tips on tidying up rope ends

  • Different ways to attach suspension lines to the harness

Please note this class is not suitable for total beginners and is mainly aimed at more advanced students, in particular those who are working their way through our foundation series.

You'll be able to ask questions, tweak details and try things out to suit you.

The class will be limited to 12 couples.

Who teaches this class?

This session will be led by Fred Hatt and Anna Bones,

Fred Hatt (he/him) regularly teaches classes for a wide range of levels at Anatomie Studio in London, which he and his partner Anna Bones founded in 2015. They also teach - and sometimes perform - outside of the UK. His classes focus as much on the ‘how’ as well as the ‘why’ behind what we tie in rope. Fred's style of teaching is rather technical, with an attention to the small details that can make or break a tie.

Fast and surprising dynamic transitions and predicament Shibari are Fred's favourite flavours of rope. Fred Hatt is a somewhat introverted and definitely caring rigger who enjoys sharing what he knows with his partners and students.

Anna Bones discovered rope, with her now-husband Fred Hatt, in 2013 and has been in love with it ever since.

Rope quickly escalated from a side hobby to a full-time job, culminating in the opening of Anatomie Studio (the UK's largest and first full-time Shibari space) which she runs with Fred Hatt since 2015.

Anna has taught and performed with her partner all over the world, but her favourite place is still her local hub, where welcoming and teaching beginners is her main passion. From self-tying, bottoming and rigging, Anna loves it all, although she finds being tied the greatest joy of all.

Anna enjoys learning from different teachers and about different Shibari styles, so when she teaches she can cover a range of techniques and approaches. Regardless of motivation or dynamic, she believes rope can be a great tool for self discovery and for building trust and intimacy within healthy partnerships.

Who can come to this class?
Are there pre-requisites

This class has prerequisites for riggers and rope bottoms/models – please make sure you meet these before booking to avoid disappointment on the day: riggers should be comfortable with basic suspension lines and tying structured harnesses. Models/bottoms should be able to communicate in rope and have an understanding of their bodies.

The class is not for complete beginners. This class is aimed at improvers who want to further their knowledge. This will be particularly useful for previous attendees of our classes, particularly our Discover Shibari series.

What should I bring and what do I wear?

We have ropes you can use during the class and we have a communal kitchenette, fridge and microwave. Tea and coffee are free but you should bring your food and snacks (we have plates and cutlery you can use). People usually wear comfortable clothing like yoga or dance attire. We advise against loose fitting clothing and also jeans can sometimes feel a bit restrictive to move around in and difficult to tie on.
