Are you hypemobile and looking to better understand your needs in rope?
Have a past injury and wondering how to protect your body in rope?
Do you have reduced flexibility in some areas of your body and wondering how to condition or advocate for your body in rope?

Whether you are a rigger who wants to understand bodies better, or a rope bottom looking for tips and insight, this hands-on practical class is for you.

⛔ "You don't need to stretch"

An evening class with LatexDancer exploring how to take care of your body in rope.

Join us for a hands-on, body-centred session designed to help you understand, condition and advocate for your body in rope. This class will combine demos, discussion, and guided practical exercised — perfect for bottoms (and for riggers!) who want to build strength, resilience, body awareness in their rope practice.

Alex will draw on her experience as a former dancer and also from combined years of receiving physiotherapy after surgeries.

In this class, Alex will use backbends as a gateway to talk about how we inhabit our bodies in rope — understanding where effort, release, and support come from, and how small adjustments can transform how a shape feels.

Topics Covered:

  • Understanding and working with hypermobility

  • Safe warm-ups and cool-downs for rope

  • Massage and pressure-point techniques for recovery

  • Managing injuries and building resilience

  • Strength and mobility training for classic rope shapes

  • Advocating for your body’s needs in rope

  • Getting to know your (or your partner’s) body

 💡 Who can come?

This class is open to all regardless of ability and experience. Both riggers and bottoms are welcome to join. Bring comfy clothing for moving and tying.

 👥 Who teaches this class?

Alex (she/her) is a London based Shibari practitioner with a background in dance and movement practice. Over the last years she has been working closely with a physiotherapist to explore the impact of rope bondage on the human body and how both rope partners can utilise techniques from movement practices to create an enjoyable experience. Alex enjoys sharing her techniques and approach to rope bottoming especially for challenging positions in an attempt to make rope bottoming accessible to everyone.

👚 What to Bring & Wear

We provide ropes for use during the class. You’ll have access to our communal kitchenette with fridge, microwave, and tea/coffee facilities — just bring your own lunch or snacks (we have plates and cutlery available).

Wear something comfortable and easy to move in, like yoga or dance clothing. Avoid restrictive clothing like jeans. You can change in the venue.
