🚨An abridged Course 1+2+3 !

🚨 Welcome to our first Rope Summer School! Taught by our wonderful team of teachers with lead instructor Rory Ropes, this full week course takes you from complete beginner to competent & confident. The course runs on the last week of August and is aimed at complete beginners. Tickets are for couples/pairs. More info below 👀

👉 Our events deal with adult themes. You must be 18+ to join.

🪢 About our summer school

This brand new week-long course will take you from complete beginner to confident and competent with floor work and partial suspensions. Starting with the very basics — what rope is, how it works, and all the foundational techniques and harnesses (futomomo, bunny ears, gote, agura, etc) — you will progress into tying full harnesses and suspension lines as the week unfolds. The course also covers essential topics such as safety, communication, anatomy, and body mechanics.

As with all our courses, this is taught from both the rigging and bottoming perspective, so both partners learn to work together — developing technique and discovering what brings them joy. We will talk about what communication in and out a scene can look like between partners, tips on how to read your partner's body language, navigating consent in the context of rope and kink, understanding what things can or should feel like, when to endure and when to stop. And of course talk about aftercare, negotiating and all the extra bits that are part of rope scenes.

The course's lead teacher is our own Rory Ropes, working alongside a range of experienced co-teachers who both model and tie, with the aim of showcasing diversity in dynamics, abilities, and bodies.

By the end of the week, you will have all the tools to understand how rope works, the confidence to play and explore, and a richer language for intimacy, play and connection.

Monday  24/08 — Introduction to Rope: single column ties, handling rope, introduction to knots and frictions, basic classic harnesses
Tuesday 25/08 — Body Manipulation:
moving your partner's body in and out of rope, locking the body, applying pressure, tying with movement
Wednesday 26/08 — Building Harnesses:
with double wrapping, more complete frictions, understanding tension, placement and safety
Thursday 27/08 — Floor Play:
double column ties, simple ties suitable for bedroom play, hogties.
Friday 28/08 — No class
Saturday 29/08 — Partial Suspensions:
suspension lines (safety and flow), loading harnesses, creating shapes and sensations using uplines, techniques for lifting and moving partners in the rope.

👩‍🏫 Who teaches this class?

Lead teacher: Rory Ropes. Co-teachers: Pixie and Jenni (more TBC).

Rory
discovered his passion for Shibari in 2020 at Anatomie Studio. With a switchy background, he enjoys playful, dynamic rope and incorporating body manipulation. Whether self-tying, double tying, or experimenting with new tie combinations, he prioritises the model’s well-being. Committed to making rope accessible, he adapts ties for those with injuries and disabilities. He’s always refining his technical skills and exploring new possibilities in rope.

Jenni Noon began exploring shibari as a model in 2020. Connection is at the heart of her practice — her experience in rope shaped above all by relationships with people she cares about deeply. As a yoga teacher and dancer, she's fascinated by movement research, with current obsessions in Butoh and clown. She loves experimenting at the intersection of these practices, especially in collaboration with other artists. Passionate about education and empowering models, she finds joy in creating spaces where people feel safe to explore, get creative and let go.

Pixie (they/them) is a London based artist, rigger, and Anatomie regular. They have been working professionally in photography for well over 10 years across the marketing industry and freelance events.

Their approach to photographing kink is quiet, gentle and observational - with a deep belief that to be permitted to capture the dynamics within our community is a privilege.

Pixie aims to create comfort, confidence and agency for the people that step behind their lens, and to give people the opportunity to see how what they feel during a scene translates to a visual memento.
