🪢 About the class
Ready to explore one of the most iconic ties in shibari? Join us for a foundational session dedicated to the Takate Kote (also known as the TK, Gote, or box tie).
Designed equally for both riggers and bottoms, this evening workshop focuses on the foundations of the tie, from the pattern, to anatomical considerations, to aesthetics and elements of play.
What we will cover:
- The core elements of the tie: single column tie, frictions, tension and placement
- Aspects relating to the body: anatomical considerations and variations, safety, risk and communication
- Play and pleasure: how to tie so that it feels nice and playful
Our classes are aimed at riggers and models/bottoms. There is usually space to switch, and we aim to provide relevant variations and adaptations.
👩🏫 Who teaches this class?
Anna Bones fell in love with shibari in 2013 and co-founded Anatomie Studio in 2015. She has taught and performed worldwide but loves welcoming beginners to her home studio. Passionate about all aspects of rope—self-tying, bottoming, and rigging—she sees it as a tool for self-discovery, trust, and intimacy. She describes herself as a bottom who ties and a shy rigger. Her passion is teaching beginners and setting them off on a path to self-discovery. Anatomie is her pride and joy.
Jenni Noon (she/her) is a dancer and yoga teacher based in London, with a background in various dance styles. She began exploring shibari as a bottom in 2021, with a strong focus on connection. Jenni balances her creative and analytical sides, working as an economist as well.
🕒 Schedule
• Doors open: 6:30pm
• Class starts: 7:00pm
• Doors close: 10:30pm
👥 Who can come?
This class is marked "Beginner Plus". See here for our class levels explained.
This means we expect riggers to know how to tie a single column tie at the very minimum. If you've attended a Thursday or have completed Course 1 this class is suitable for you.
🧰 What to bring & wear
We have ropes you can use during the class and a communal kitchenette with fridge and microwave. Tea and coffee are free, but please bring your own food and snacks (plates and cutlery provided).
Please note out community ropes may not be suitable for suspensions. You should bring your own trusted ropes for suspension lines. You will need 3-4 suspension line ropes.
People usually wear comfortable clothing you can move in such as yoga or dancewear. Jeans can sometimes feel restrictive or difficult to tie on.
If you have your set of rope, we recommend you bring it.
