What's on offer this month?

This month we are offering a self-tying led session - we will teach only a basic cuff (single column tie) and basic rope handling. We will not be teaching any harnesses or any other technical elements.

"Embodiment, Rope, Ritual" - a session with LotusOracle

This class is for all curious humans who wish to explore the power innate in their subtle body and how this can be harnessed with rope for sensation and pleasure. Weaving self-tying together with pranayama, breathwork, making sound and movement the rope becomes a tool for self-pleasure and self-acceptance. Together we will create a ritual space to explore these practices; less talking, more doing. Less thinking, more feeling. An invitation to get out of your head and into your body, the class will close with a guided deep relaxation. There are no prerequisites for this class, but please note it will not include any technical teaching beyond a basic single column tie. Please join with an open heart and an open mind and wear clothes that you can move in.

About the teacher

Lotus Oracle is a London based rope bottom who has practised yoga since the 90s and qualified as an instructor in 2017. She attended her first rope jam at Anatomie Studio in 2015 having been inspired by watching Anna Bones and Fred Hatt perform. Her exploration of rope is deeply entwined with her studies in yoga, meditation and spending a lot of time in ritual space with plant medicine teachers. She is interested in the space between the energetic body and the flesh and bone body; and the potential for rope to act as a tool for transformation.

What charity will we be supporting this month?

At the request of the teacher (@LotusOracle), this month we are supporting Care 4 Calais https://care4calais.org/

Care 4 Calais is a volunteer run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, Northern France and Belgium. Their focus is to provide warm clothing, bedding, food and medical assistance to people in desperate need. They also provide social support and interaction, including language lessons and sports and music workshops.

How does this class work?

Same as any other class. You'll book donation ticket online and turn up on the day. You can attend solo or with a partner, and we'll provide everything else, rope included. We will announce in advance the topic of the class, and what charity donations are going to every session.

Who are these classes for?

Everyone. The aim is to provide a space for quality rope education for everyone, including those financial barriers who may find our pricier classes out of budget. You'll get top notch classes with local teachers, at more accessible price ranges (literally what you can afford since it's donations based).

Should you still come even if you can afford our regular workshops?

Yes! Not only will your donation go to a good cause, but you'll be helping new folk to learn. If you're more experienced, we will ask you to help out newcomers and foster peer-to-peer learning opportunities.

What is the format like?

The classes will be educational, but also have a strong social component, and since we encourage more experienced folk to also attend and participate, these classes will also have a strong peer-to-peer learning component. The first hour will be dedicated to absolute basics for those who are completely new, and then after that we will move on to specific topic or technique - always suitable for all levels.

Who teaches these classes?

Local teachers, old and new. The teachers leading the classes will be donating their time and expertise, sometimes these will be well seasoned teachers, and other times we will provide opportunities for new and budding teachers to lead a class. Our aim is to provide a stepping-stone for greater diversity of folk to teach rope in a friendly and relaxed environment.
