Welcoming a one of a kind event to mark our reopening week!
About the event
Nik Yourknots would like to invite you to share a facilitated experience focusing on movement, non-verbal communication and energy exchange. In a dimly lit studio, he will guide you through the evening, allowing you to tune into your body and each other and explore your interactions through rope.
The evening will be divided into three parts with breaks:
We will begin with a gentle sharing circle. We will then progress to a series of exercises to explore how we each connect, using non-verbal communication to attune and respond to our partner.
After a short break, we will continue into a facilitated rope meditation. You will explore silence and sensual contemplation and deepen into the experience.
In the last part, the participants are invited to continue tying in complete silence, accompanied by a carefully curated playlist. Together we will create a space of meditation and focus.
The evening is open to riggers and models of all levels, except for complete beginners. It's not a class, so guidance about patterns won't be provided. Instead, we will focus on connection and energy exchange. Nik suggests not exploring complex or difficult rope patterns or anything as ambitious and strenuous as suspensions. He would like to focus on the ways we can create trust, intimacy, relaxation and liberation.
Switching is allowed and encouraged. Please come with a tying partner as there won't be time to pair up people.
The bare minimum pre-requisite is a knowledge of a single column tie for riggers, the awareness of risks, and the ability to communicate with a partner for both.
About the facilitator
Nik Yourknots has been interested in rope bondage for over six years. Lately, he has been developing a practice of guiding models and riggers alike through the rope experience that focuses on the body, movement and connection. Nik's unique and eclectic style, with a focus on aesthetics and intention, stems from his training in three art institutions across Russia and the United Kingdom and the teachings of a variety of bondage artists from Europe, America and Asia. Nik's versatile work ranges from photo and video to performance and installation art. His interests reach beyond bondage to include poetry, dance, sound and video design, all of which feed into his work as a shibari artist. Nik's work has been featured in print, film, and events in the UK and internationally.
What should I bring and what do I wear?
Communal ropes are available in the studio. People usually wear comfortable clothing like yoga or dance attire. We advise against loose-fitting clothing. Jeans also can sometimes feel a bit restrictive to move around in and difficult to tie on.
