Welcome to our first hands-on rope customisation workshop in a hot minute.
It's been a while since we ran a workshop on rope treatment and care, and since 2016 we have learned A TON about rope. A large part of studio life revolves around selling treated rope to people all over the world. In fact we treat over 50 THOUSAND meters of rope per year. This is done by a team of six dedicated rope enthusiasts who give their all to each and every piece of rope before it's packaged and sent to its new home.
So who better to teach this class than one of our team? So welcome to Mel Kitenga (aka @theaccidentalrigger) who will be guiding you in this fun and very hands-on evening workshop!
What we will cover?
In this workshop we plan on giving you the information and tools you need to customise your rope. Whether you simply want to make them look nice, or add some order to your rope kit, this workshop is for you.
We will provide some customisation materials, and you can also choose to include the price of a length of treated jute rope in the price of your ticket, which you can customise during the class and take home with you!
If there are any specific colours or materials you would like to use, then please bring those along with you.
About Mel
Mel has been treating and handling rope since 2019. In a year on average about 121,000 metres are handled in the process of preparing rope to sell at Anatomie’s Shibari Store. Over this time she has developed a lot of knowledge both professionally and personally in making, maintaining and personalising jute rope. Through her time working and learning in the Shibari Store; Mel has found a love for what she affectionately call "nerdy rope tech stuff" - and is very excited to share her knowledge with fellow rope nerds/participants.
