About the event

We are thrilled to welcome British Book Award-winning author-illustrator Harry Woodgate to our Klaus Flugge Salon this April to celebrate the publication of their latest picture book The Butterfly House.

Join Harry for a fascinating deep-dive into their incredible career as an author-illustrator. From their debut picture book, Grandad’s Camper showcasing older LGBTQIA+ characters and amassing several major award wins and shortlistings, to The Happy Prince reimagining Oscar Wilde’s classic story to celebrate community and kindness, Harry’s picture books have triumphed for their dedication to remain inclusive and diverse, ensuring everyone can see themselves in the stories they read. Their latest picture book The Butterfly House is no exception, as not only explores the power of nature and outdoors, but it is also an uplifting and empathetic look at mental health.

The Salon will take place on Thursday 23rd April and is limited to 45 tickets. Tickets cost £8 each, which includes entry, refreshments, a copy of The Butterfly House (paperback), and the opportunity to have your books signed by Harry.

About the Klaus Flugge Salons

Now in its second year following a hugely successful 2025, the Klaus Flugge salons are an initiative from Andersen Press to celebrate their founder and chairman Klaus Flugge and welcome people to their offices in Bloomsbury.

These events are open to anyone who wants to meet others in the publishing industry, enjoy a glass of wine and listen to an author talking about their work. They are a celebration of all that is good about the world of children's publishing today and an opportunity to make new friends, learn about new books and discuss ideas without the toxicity of social media.

Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

About The Butterfly House by Harry Woodgate

‘A beautiful, moving picture book about the healing power of gardens and community’ GUARDIAN

To others, Miss Brown's wild and overgrown house at the end of the road is scary, but to Holly it’s like something out of a fairy tale. Holly reaches out to Miss Brown and discovers that she isn’t scary at all: her brain has been ill for a while, and the wildness has spilled out. Can their budding friendship, and a bit of help with the butterflies in her garden, encourage Miss Brown to feel like herself again?
