ABOUT THE VOICE SESSIONS
Ravi provides a safe, playful and gentle space to explore our voices together. Many have blockages, judgements and past traumas about their voice and carry these beliefs, sometimes at an unconscious level into adult life. These self-limiting patterns impact our inner strength and confidence.
The gentle techniques that Ravi uses allow for a deep, exploration and healing through voice and sound, that also builds strength in the voice.
Please see testimonials to read about how others have found the experience. No previous knowledge or experience is needed and all levels of singing ability are welcome.
ABOUT RAVI
Ravi is a singer, voice event facilitator, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and one of the longest established Western players of the kora (West African harp).
His music is the result of a lifetime exploring the edge, through world music, tribal cultures, throat singing and a journey that has taken him from India to the Amazon, Africa and beyond. Ravi has crystallised his 40 years as a musician and singer into developing ways of journeying together with our voices in the most beautiful and joyful way possible, creating an instant choir experience that is accessible as possible to all ages and levels of singing ability
As well as over 20 albums, international performances and workshops and the invention of the electric/stereo kora, Ravi has also worked with artists such as Deva Premal and Miten, Nigel Kennedy, Jon Lord, Phil Manzanera, Baaba Maal, Dr John, Ronu Majumdar and Marlui Miranda. The most recent albums are “Songs for the Golden Age” and “Two Rivers” with master flautist Adrian Freedman.
Ravi has also led workshops and lectured at various Universities, schools and centres such as Colorado State University; Northfield College, Minneapolis and various cultural centres in Ireland, Brazil, Italy, Australia, at The Glastonbury Symposium, and elsewhere around the world.
During the retreat, Ravi will share some of the stories and history behind different voice styles, instruments and their cultures, all from direct experience

ABOUT LYNDZ JEANNE
Lyndz Jeanne of Liquid LIght Sound Therapies brings songs of many cultures as well as mantra and healing prayers to the circle to invite and welcome the voice to sing from the heart.
Having trained and travelled as a sound healing practitioner through various locations and indigenous cultures, she works with multiple modalities of sound transmissions taking you on a sound journey and energy healing. Clearing chakras, removing stagnation, relaxing the nervous system-all supporting compassionate growth and evolution in these times.
ABOUT LUNA
When Yoga, Meditation and Buddhism found Luna in 2003, she was in a place of utter disconnection from self and heart space with mental health problems and addictions. Taking the firsts steps back out into the world took courage and strength and regular yoga and mediation classes were the start of an holistic healing process.
The following 10 years a profound love for the mountains and snowboarding emerged and here she fused her two main passions together. Whilst living in Canada in 2010, Luna discovered Yin yoga and experienced the potent and deep healing benefits of this meditative practice. Knowing how beneficial it was for herself, she felt she needed to bring Yin into her teaching. Enjoying the dynamic strengthening asana practice of Hatha to be balanced with the passive meditative discipline of Yin. And this is where she is today. Bringing a fusion of these two traditions into her practice to open to a deeper connection and awareness, while lengthening what is being strengthened.
Expect a warm and friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere, with a focus on self care, love and inner enquiry with guided meditations and healing sounds.
Testimonials for Voice Events with RAVI FREEMAN
What a splendid soul nourishing Sunday at a kirtan and cacao night hosted by the incredible RAVI FREEMAN. I have always dismissed singing because of my limiting beliefs. "I can't hold a tune, I sound like a cat screeching," "How embarrassing that anyone would hear me out of tune”. "If I'm not X-factor worthy, my voice shouldn't be heard”. And the list goes on...
So, always one for preaching about getting comfortable being uncomfortable, I showed up despite myself. Mostly by convincing myself that I could do the sound healing, cacao, and fire ceremony and just listen to the singing. However. I know the benefits of stimulating the vagal nerves for relaxation. I have all the evidence through my own practice on top of scientific evidence that stimulating the vagus nerve (the main part of the parasympathetic nervous system) lowers stress and anxiety levels. I pretty much check all the different ways of doing so.
Deep breathing, Cold water immersion, Exercise Massage, Tapping Connection. But a huge one for it... singing... fuck no. For so many years, I swallowed my voice. Silenced myself. Wasn't heard.
So I went for it. And WOW! What an experience. I am free in my body when dancing, but singing just icks me. However, last night, I felt free and connected. No care for what I sounded like, because how it FELT. There is something very tribal and familiar with a group of people singing, dancing, and making music. We have danced and sung for lifetimes together. Somewhere along the way, we have disconnected to this powerful force. Yesterday, I returned ♥️ Lucy
"I just wanted to get in touch in testimony of the fantastic kirtan/ voice activation/ cacao ceremony evening that we attended with you recently in Bakewell. You took us through the most joyous, therapeutic singing evening gathering and Ian and I were delighted with the event and the upliftment and fun of raising the vibration together with your melodious music from around the world. It was just wonderful and very special! We have never been to any kind of plant medicine event or music making event or group gathering like this and we want more, ha ha! It was so inspiring! The kirtan voice activation and cacao event and the togetherness of attendees touched my heart- the evening was a beautiful gem of Love, Light, Liberty and Laughter shining into the atmosphere, and I want to thank you for your wonderful energy in bringing such a lively array of music, bringing out joyous community spirit in us all and helping us all activate our voices at the ceremony in Bakewell- it really was special!
Angie Erving, Wirral Therapy Services
As a leader for a high-performance corporate team, like many others, we found our challenges through the last couple of years, with distant working and lack of face-to-face connection. For all the efforts we made with various forms of remote interaction with that or any other kind of remote connection, it never really replaced the benefits of face-to-face team building.
A ‘celebration of life’ was the topic for our gathering and we embarked upon finding an activity that would not only re-establish our connectors, but also leave us with a long lasting memory, in addition to trying something, which for many people was brand-new. Although it had a feel of being brand-new, this is one of the oldest human activities we’ve ever known. What, you may ask? Well, it was collectively singing some heartfelt songs. You will know them, they are the classics, the timeless songs that everyone knows the tune to, however you may not know all the verses (yet).
We found, what I can describe as, an absolutely unique talent in the form of Ravi Freeman, an amazingly talented individual who can command an array of musical instruments and a person who has the ability to create an environment where even the most self-conscious of people can find their voice.
This unique experience was something that took many people outside their comfort zone, but because we shared this experience collectively, we all stepped into that space together, and that left us with what will probably be a lifelong experience to carry with us. It was so much fun, people completely in the wrong key, forgetting the lyrics, laughing at themselves and light-hearted laughing at one another. This was an amazing experience.
Ravi also interjected with his own songs whilst changing instruments and ensuring that we kept at the right pace for everybody to feel completely comfortable through the session
When the singing had concluded, we had the pleasure of experiencing an amazing ‘Sound Bath’. For those that have no experience of this, I invite you to imagine, this…. lean back, get comfortable and experience the beauty of being washed all over by sound frequencies from a variety of instruments… drifting off to a very special ‘self-space’ very similar to that created in deep mediation. This came to a crescendo by the introduction of a full size gong, which vibrated through everybody’s heart.
I can honestly say that from leading a team for over 20 years, I have never witnessed movement in peoples thoughts and feelings from real apprehension and fear of stepping out of their comfort zone to complete fun, joy and elation after taking part in a wonderful event like this.
Wayne B, Sales Director
“I wanted to send you a huge thanks for the most amazingly personal experience last night at your cacao ceremony. The safe space you created let me break down my inhibitions of song and be free. I haven’t felt so alive in song since I was a young boy singing in my junior school choir.”
– Many thanks Much love Ryan
“Really powerful experience at your Overtone singing and voice workshop.
I experienced a growing confidence in expressing myself through the day and beyond and shifting of energy within me.
Thank you Ravi for sharing your gifts with the world based on your lived experience.”
