Junior Zoologists – 5 Week Block
Junior Zoologists is a hands-on, interactive animal education club designed for children who are curious and ready to explore the animal world in more detail. This 5-week block builds understanding through real animal encounters, discussion, and practical learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Each session focuses on a different area of zoology, helping children develop confidence, knowledge, and respect for animals.
Week 1 – What is Zoology?
We’ll explore what zoology is, what zoologists do, and how animals are grouped. Children will meet animal ambassadors and learn the basic differences between mammals, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates.
Week 2 – Reptiles
Meet reptiles and learn what makes them unique. We’ll explore what “cold-blooded” means, how reptiles regulate their temperature, and how they adapt to different environments.
Week 3 – Mammals and birds
This session focuses on mammals and birds, including their characteristics, behaviours, and care needs. Children will meet mammal ambassadors and compare mammals with other animal groups.
Week 4 – Invertebrates
We’ll look at invertebrates, exploring adaptations, habitats, and why these animals are so important to ecosystems. We will touch on fish and amphibians.
Week 5 – Conservation and Caring for Wildlife
A practical introduction to conservation. Children will learn how people can help protect animals and habitats, and how small actions can make a difference.
Junior Zoologists is fully inclusive and welcoming to children of all abilities. Sessions are adapted to suit different learning styles, confidence levels, and needs, with experienced staff supporting throughout.
