What lies in wait for us among the discarded, resented, and disturbing flora and fauna of our sensation-emotions? As any good weirdo, artist, or nondual (holistic) teacher can tell you, much of our suffering and dubious behavior stems from attempting to create a decorative lawn out of a wild and uncontrollable jungle. Our dominant cultural belief systems have us ever lawn-scrambling, training us to become fragile and dull around the culturally exiled, unfamiliar, or taboo. Can art bridge the gap? Join Larissa Kaul (co-creator of Animist Arts) for an experiential storytelling event exploring the archives of BAD FEELINGS, where the “audience” is a participatory force. Larissa and company will implicate us all in the vibrant intimacy of art-making as culture-shaping through meditation, creative prompts, storytelling, and dance.
For mature audiences only. Pleae note there may be spicy sexy content as well as discussion of sexual assault.
The sliding scale donation for this event is $10-30, with 3 ticket tiers at $10, $20, and $30. If you want to make a donation that falls somewhere between those numbers, for example $25, you can choose the $20 ticket type and then donate $5 in the donation section.
About the artist:
Larissa (they/them) is an artist-practitioner dedicated to "responsible animist improvisation", also known as the creative participation of humans in the dynamic, unpredictable interplay between all phenomena for the good of the whole. Larissa understands that most of the human realm is currently undergoing an absurdist non-consensual art project known as late stage capitalism and imperialism, and therefore chooses to listen to ancient grandmothers and spirits so old they have innumerable names and faces. They apply their knowledge in community organizing, performance art, theater, ritual, the energetics of transformation, and neurobiological health to social design and artmaking. They study the organizing principles of Nature and the roots of creative expression, and adapt this knowledge for work with 1-1 clients, groups, and collaborative art
projects. Larissa is a trained therapist and has been facilitating in different settings for over 15 years. They are a mixed race, non-binary person living with chronic pain and health issues, and this blend of life experiences informs how they design.
