I'm delighted that my Australian Faculty colleague, Cathy Duvel, will be joining us for our February Collegiate Day.
Cathy has been working for some time on the component of Appreciation. She says:
"Working with teams and individuals over the years I’ve noticed that often people aren't comfortable giving appreciation, or don't have the vocabulary to keep noticing and naming the qualities and behaviours that they value and appreciate in others.
As a Thinking Environment practitioner I know how important it is to cultivate the ability to give appreciation regularly. My further studies in Neuroscience have confirmed the importance of this simple part of giving feedback, and how receiving appreciation impacts positively on creating connection, confidence and motivation.
There's also research that shows how wellbeing and life satisfaction is strengthened when we cultivate the ability to notice and focus on what we appreciate and value daily.
I created the ValueYou™ Appreciation Cards to encourage and nurture the ability to notice and acknowledge all there is to appreciate daily, and to expand vocabulary to recognise and acknowledge more amazing qualities in people."
Cathy will share with us her work on the ValueYou cards and her learnings about how to give and receive appreciation, and to make others comfortable with it too.
The day will also include all the usual elements of a Collegiate Day, including opportunities to practice all the four Building Blocks, and time for a full Thinking Session in the afternoon.
Who for: anyone who’s a member of the Collegiate (Coaches, Facilitators, TP Teachers, Consultants, Faculty).
