Another People Place @ Civic House, 28th March

2026 has sure kicked off in a busy fashion for us but it's showing no signs of stopping soon. Delighted to announce we'll be back, touching down for another round in Civic House, on Saturday 28th March. Same room downstairs kitted out with our full setup of soundystem, dancefloor and other sonic and visual goodies. Might even have some new audio kit to show off when it comes around

Continuing where we left off we're delighted to have another guest joining us for what's undoubtedly going to be an incredible set. Our good friend Mel aka Carmen Selektra will be treating us to a set for this one and we absolutely can't wait. Despite only picking up DJing relatively recently Mel's done a run of incredible shows over a Radio Buena Video, digging into all the sounds we also love - deep House, R&B, funk, jazz, soul, broken beat - you name it, all mixed with care and thought. She's been a regular face at our parties so far and it felt so right that she should come play the next one, can't wait to hear what she brings along for it!

For the uninitiated, we are a soundsystem, party and community of friends dedicated to the deepest soulful sounds, and a house party feel. Weaving through a musical tapestry cut from the cosmos, rooted in the lineage of black music from Detroit, Chicago and beyond, we aim to channel elevated and interconnected musical unity here in Glasgow, keeping the ears safe and the soul warm. In other words, mon' doon for a good old boogie!!

Over the past year or so we have been developing our own handbuilt soundsystem to deliver HiFi with a punch. Along these regular nights at Civic House we've also been sharing the vibrations with the southside for Vita Nova @ McNeills . With our own party we want to create a dancing space unique to Glasgow, and beyond our soundsystem we dress up the venue space fit for a cosmic journey together. Not just that, but we will be setting up our portable parquet wooden dancefloor that we drove across the country in a van to pick up - a very proud facebook marketplace mission. A fleet of our own custom sound insulation panels will also be featured to create the warmest and cleanest sound we can in the space!

What to expect?

• A unique sound system in Glasgow. Two stacks of carefully tuned speakers featuring classic Altec designs powered by modern drivers and amplification

• An intimate dancing space decorated to transport us across the cosmos. Also featuring a springy wooden dancefloor

• Deep, warm and soulful musical selections inspired by the likes of Theo Parrish, Kenny Dixon Jr and Ront Trent

• A house party feel

Accessibility

We are on the ground floor of Civic House, which involves a small set of steps to access from the street. There is a platform lift adjacent to the main entrance, an accessible toilet, and assistance can be provided by staff.

No one turned away for lack of funds, give us a shout if cost is a barrier and we'll sort something out!
