EDINBURGH | Ancestral Sound with Anthar Kharana - Wisdom of the Obsidian
Teachings of the Sacred Obsidian
Join Colombian ceremonial musician, composer and retreat leader Anthar Kharana for a special evening of ancestral sound, medicine music, live songs, voice, rhythm and ancient teachings.
This event is part of the Ancestral Sound Tour 2026, a journey of gatherings exploring sound, ceremony and the wisdom of reciprocity.
Obsidian is often understood as a stone of reflection.
Its dark surface invites us to look more honestly at what lies beneath appearances. Not to judge what we find, but to meet it with clarity, responsibility and compassion.
During this gathering, Anthar will share teachings connected with the symbolic wisdom of sacred obsidian and the way it can help us reflect on the patterns, memories and relationships that shape our lives.
The evening will move between storytelling, live music, participatory voice, moments of reflection and an immersive ancestral sound journey.
There will also be space to explore reciprocity and conscious relationship with the plant world, remembering that healing is not only about what we receive. It is also about how we listen, how we approach and what we are willing to give back.
This is not a performance in the usual sense. It is a shared gathering in which music, sound and story become a way of listening more deeply.
The evening will include
Ancestral sound and immersive sound journeying
Live medicine music and original songs
Voice and simple participatory singing
Rhythm and grounding practices
Ancient stories and teachings
Reflections on sacred obsidian, honesty and inner clarity
Teachings about reciprocity and conscious relationship with plants
Time for personal reflection and integration
No previous experience with sound work, singing or ceremonial practice is needed.
You are welcome to participate through your voice, through quiet reflection or simply by listening.
