BRIGHTON | Ancestral Sound with Anthar Kharana | The Wisdom of the Barn Owl
Ancestral Sound & The Wisdom of the Barn Owl
An Evening to Honour Our Ancestors
Join Colombian ceremonial musician, composer and retreat leader Anthar Kharana for a special evening of ancestral sound, live medicine music, voice, rhythm, storytelling and remembrance.
This gathering is part of the Ancestral Sound Tour 2026, a journey of events exploring sound, ceremony and the wisdom of reciprocity.
The barn owl moves quietly through the night.
It teaches us to listen beyond what is immediately visible and to recognise the presence of memory, lineage and the lives that came before our own.
For this gathering, the barn owl becomes a symbol of remembrance and connection with those who are no longer physically living in this world.
Many of us carry the influence of parents, grandparents, relatives, teachers, friends and loved ones who have died. Their presence may continue through our memories, our bodies, our values, our wounds, our gifts and the stories that have been passed down to us.
This evening is an invitation to honour those relationships with gratitude and honesty.
Rather than trying to hold on to the past, we will create space to acknowledge what remains alive within us, to give thanks for what was received and to recognise what we may now be ready to carry forward differently.
Through ancestral sound, live songs, voice, rhythm and ancient stories, we will enter a shared space of listening and remembrance.
The gathering will include an immersive sound journey, participatory singing, moments of reflection and a simple act of honouring our ancestors and loved ones who have passed.
This is not about forcing a particular belief about death or the afterlife.
It is about making room for memory, gratitude and the continuing influence of those who have touched our lives.
The evening will include
Ancestral sound and immersive sound journeying
Live medicine music and original songs
Voice and simple participatory singing
Rhythm and grounding practices
Stories and teachings connected with the barn owl
Reflections on ancestry, memory and lineage
A simple act of honouring those who have passed
