Stolen Lives Recovery Support Group with Guest Speaker: Laura

This is a monthly meeting where guest speakers will share their recovery stories from psychiatric drugs, followed by a Q&A and discussion.

May's guest speaker is Laura Turner from London, UK.

Laura was prescribed tricyclic antidepressants 'off-label' to ‘treat’ neuropathic pain following a facial where the therapist failed to ask any pre-screening questions. She had a catastrophic reaction to the very first pill, triggering severe akathisia and rapid psychological decline.

Misdiagnosed and forcibly medicated, she endured a suicide attempt, wrongful detainment because she hallucinated that she had poisoned her children, and the stillbirth of her son due to complications linked to the medications. Genetic testing later confirmed she could not metabolise these drugs, proving her reaction was neurotoxic. Now living with chronic pain and trauma, she’s focused on healing through alternative therapies and raising awareness about the dangers of misprescribed psychiatric drugs, in memory of her son Toby.

She has shared her story on our Stolen Lives page:
