Rose, Mint, Pea...
Plant families share many clues about an individual plant: medicinal qualities, safety, flavor. Understand the botanical patterns that sing their kinship, and you can know something about many of the countless species around you.
Come join for an evening of hands-on botanical study and tasting to get you more familiar with local plants and their medicines. This workshop is for anyone interested in herbal medicine or foraging.
You'll learn all the basics you need to identify many common plant families in the field, their safety, and general medicinal and edible uses. We will explore:
- botanical patterns and vocabulary
- organoleptics
- basic herbal chemistry
- ID keys
Expect to use your nose, eyes, fingertips and tastebuds! There will be plant tasting, botanical drawing and sensory study exercises, all in the beautiful Biblioterre medicinal garden.
