The Salon is a Friday night gathering at Aphilia Studio, created for those who want to spend an evening enveloped in the atmosphere of Kinbaku. This is a space for observation, beauty, and delicious provocation.

This edition of The Salon marks the second anniversary of Aphilia Studio: two years of creating a space for rope, connection, experimentation and the particular quality of attention that Kinbaku asks of us. To celebrate, the evening will begin with a special performance created specifically for the occasion, an intimate and visceral reflection on what the studio has become, and an invitation into everything still waiting to unfold.

After the performance, the studio will open into two distinct spaces. The tying area will be held for those who wish to indulge in the practice; a place to be absorbed by the weight, rhythm and theatre of rope. The social area will offer somewhere softer to sit, talk, watch, gather yourself, lose yourself slightly, and let the evening unfold with the lazy seriousness of a room that knows exactly what it is doing.

The Salon is neither a formal workshop nor a casual practice night. It is an intentional space where Kinbaku is paramount. A room of low light, soft focus, and sharp attention, where rope is not hurried, explained away, or flattened into technique, but is allowed to sit in the centre of the room like something rich, dark, and quietly irresistible. Guests are invited to arrive with curiosity, respect and a willingness to be affected by what they see and feel around them. Leave rigid definitions at the door. Hang up your coat and, where possible, your facade.

Conor is a full-time rope practitioner, creator, and the founder and owner of Aphilia Studio based in London. Throughout his career, he has worked with hundreds of clients, many of whom are entirely new to the practice. His extensive professional experience has deeply informed his personal style, leading him to develop an intentional and body-centric approach that prioritises accessibility and remains beginner-focused.

Sorcha’s love affair with bodies and movement has been a lifelong exploration and celebration. She is a full-time yoga teacher, having taught for over 12 years; she is highly skilled in the art of hand balance, with experience in contemporary dance, movement direction, physical theatre, aerial circus disciplines, life modelling, pole dance, and contortion.

Sorcha has been involved in rope for over 6 years; her collaboration with Conor began subtly in 2020.

Aphilia Studio has been designed as an intimate and cosy refuge from the busyness of London, with soft lighting, padded flooring and a dedicated social area. The Salon will take place on September 4th, from 19:30 to 01:00, at Aphilia Studio, 566 Cable Street, London, E1W 3HB. Please wear something you feel comfortable in, bring your own rope where possible, and arrive ready to contribute to a space of radical tenderness, serious fun, quiet mischief and high possibility.
