Vik & Gala - Live Session+ Jam
Live Session is not a performance in the conventional sense. It is an invitation to witness the discreet and intricate depth of Vik and Gala’s kinbaku practice. Rather than being entertained, the viewer is asked to take on the role of an intentional observer. The space will not demand applause, spectacle, or heightened dramatics. Instead, it asks for presence, a quiet attunement to the subtle dynamics of rope, body, and relationship as they unfold in real time.
What makes this encounter distinct is its refusal to alter the essence of tying for the sake of an audience. Too often, when rope is performed, its meaning is amplified to fit the frame of theatre. Live Session moves in the opposite direction. The practice is allowed to remain intact, untouched by the expectation to entertain. It is an opportunity to bear witness to kinbaku as it is lived, deliberate, paced, and grounded in the exchange between rigger and model.
For Vik and Gala, kinbaku is not a display but a dialogue. Rope becomes the language through which vulnerability, struggle, tenderness, and erotic charge are expressed. The viewer is invited to sit inside this dialogue, not to direct it, but to observe it with care and intentionality. To notice the shifts of breath, the weight of silence, the adjustments of hand and line. To feel the quiet intensity of Semenawa without the gloss of spectacle.
Live Session offers a rare chance to see kinbaku without the mask of performance. It is a practice in looking, of recognising that the most profound rope experiences are not always loud or theatrical, but often lie in the smallest of gestures and the most subtle of exchanges.
