Join us in Detroit from April 23–26, 2026 for the A Planner with a Purpose Detroit Activation, a four-day gathering for people who care about cities, neighborhoods, and the future of our communities curated by Nina Idemudia, AICP.

This experience centers the perspectives of Black planners, civic leaders, and community advocates, while welcoming anyone interested in equity and community power.

Across four days, you’ll take part in workshops on personal finance and housing systems, community conversations on local banking, small-group salons, a bus tour of Black-owned businesses, a live podcast show, and a closing celebration.

We’re also excited to partner with Source Booksellers, who will be onsite at designated events during the activation with a curated selection of books connected to the themes of the experience.

The Detroit Activation is independently organized and open to all. You do not need conference registration or professional credentials to attend.
