Let Me Think: A Psychoanalytic Critique of ADHD

Attention deficit and hyperactivity today form a major part of childhood pathologies. The extreme bodily restlessness of these disorders radically challenges the psychoanalytic clinic, based as it is on the word. Yet if psychoanalysis is to spare children practices that objectify and merely medicate them, it must rise to this challenge with its own radical insistence on what it means to speak.

Continuing Education
Two (2) CE credits will be granted to Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Psychoanalysts, and Licensed Psychologists who have registered, have documented evidence of attendance of the presentation, and complete the evaluation form. Upon completion of the evaluation form, a Certificate of Completion will be emailed to all participants who comply with these requirements.

Learning Objectives: After this presentation, participants will be able to:

1. Examine how attention deficit and hyperactivity form a major part in childhood pathologies today.
2. Describe the ways in which these disorders can be heard and treated psychoanalytically.
