Online Harms and Grooming: Supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism to Stay Safe
A one-hour online ARC England Lunch and Learn session co-delivered by expert trainer Rod Landman and people with lived experience of learning disabilities and online harms
“All the supported people we worked with preferred the online world to ‘real life’.” Rod Landman, Project Lead, Get SMART
The online world is a fantastic place for most people, most of the time. But, just as its benefits are arguably greater for supported people, so are the risks.
Do you know how to empower people whilst also keeping them safe from online grooming, exploitation and abuse?
This ARC England Masterclass session is co-delivered alongside supported people with lived experience of learning disability and online harms. It is designed to raise awareness and develop good practice responses to online harms.
It is suitable for anyone supporting people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
The session covers:
- What are we afraid of?
- What do we know?
- What are the risks?
- How do people want to be supported?
- What does and doesn’t work?
The session is a live webinar in Microsoft Teams. We welcome questions but due to the wealth of the material, opportunities for discussion and questioning will be limited.
