Description

Drawbridges, Cable-Stayed, Swing, Arch bridges and more! Join us to learn about different types of bridges, how they are engineered and about famous bridges around the world!

Following an exciting presentation, build your very own model bridge - with guidance from ArchForKids educators. We will use simple household materials to make spectacular models. As you build, interact with kids from around the world!

Recommended for ages 6 and above. Fun and interactive workshop using the Zoom platform. Led by ArchForKids educators.

Recommended Materials for the Workshop:

  • Cardboard strips of the same length (can be cut from box flaps):1 for the roadway about 2” wide and 1  for the base – about 4” to 6” wide
  • Toilet paper or paper towel tubes for piers/anchorages. Or roll your own out of paper
  • Paper towel tubes or thin/tall boxes (pasta boxes) for the towers
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Elmer’s glue
  • Tape
  • String or pipe cleaners or thin strips of paper (for the cables or moving mechanism)
  • Construction paper
  • Optional: other materials found at home to embellish your bridge
