Join the Architecture Fringe for a Communal Synergies Workshop on Saturday the 18th of April.

We will delve deeper into our Communal Infrastructures exhibition with Arc Architects and Rebearth, BothAnd Group and Resolve Collective.

About Communal Infrastructures

Building on work produced for Architecture Fringe 2025, the Communal Infrastructures exhibition presents new work investigating ideas of community, infrastructure and reciprocal exchange. It presents a range of inventive and emergent architectural and research approaches to the question of what (and to whom) we should be listening and paying attention to, as our cities face a range of diverse future challenges.

This workshop and panel discussion will explore further the themes and concerns of three showcased projects:

  • Resolve Collective, working in collaboration with the 20th AlFonj Scout Group, asks how the local and diasporic knowledge of young people might support exciting and alternative ways of preserving architectural and cultural heritage across global communities?

  • Arc Architects and Rebearth collaboratively ask if we could hear the voices of Place and more-than-human life, what could we learn and how might that change our approach to and what we design?

  • BothAnd Group present Occupying Landscape Infrastructure (OLI), prototyping an approach and strategy to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis in Edinburgh’s public spaces by prioritising and reimagining landscape as infrastructure.

Updated Event schedule;

After an opening panel discussion, two workshops overlaying our contributors’ processes onto the docklands of Leith will be led simultaneously before we come back together to share our experiences through an emotional mapping exercise facilitated by Resolve Collective.
