We Have No Plan B* - Two events exploring Architectures of Erasure, Aftermath and Repair
convened by Architecture Fringe and Contested Space

Part 1
Architectures of Evidence

with Joshua Richards of Forensic Architecture, Lizzie Malcolm of Rectangle, and Alissar Riachi of Contested Space
at Civic House, Glasgow, on 12 November 2026, 6pm
Supported by Agile City

Part 2
Geographies of Aftermath

January 2027 [Tickets coming soon]

*”We do not have a Plan B” - we are planning for “catastrophic success” – so spoke Jared Kushner, US Special Envoy (and son-in-law of US President Donald Trump) at the launch of the so-called Gaza ‘Board of Peace’ on 22 January 2026, revealing a hastily conceived, AI-generated, free-market and developer-led ‘masterplan’ for the ‘rebuilding of Gaza’.

As a counterpoint, these two forthcoming events from Contested Space and Architecture Fringe ask what critical role architecture and design can play in first bearing witness to injustice, documenting evidence and resisting erasure, and secondly advocating for a progressive and just approach to repair and reconstruction, centring self-determination and the people most directly affected by acts of international and settler-colonial violence.

With contributions from Forensic Architecture (an interdisciplinary agency operating across human rights, journalism, architecture, art and aesthetics, academia and the law), Rectangle (designers focused on building tools to structure stores of information, and interfaces to access them), Contested Space (a multidisciplinary studio investigating power, conflict and spatial frontiers within the built environment) and more, we will create a forum for discussion, reflection, the sharing of learning and knowledge, and a space for considering future action.

These events also operate as solidarity fundraisers, supporting the work of the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund, providing medical assistance to the children of Gaza and Lebanon. The events are free to attend with the option to make a donation when booking.
