Contributors:
Rebecca Davies
Rebecca Davies is an artist working within a participatory practice through illustration, performance and events. Rebecca's work includes People's Bureau in the Elephant & Castle shopping centre which sought to highlight the role and function of public space and the commons and alternative economic cycles of consumption and destruction; and the The Oasis Social Club, a part entertainment venue, part discussion space which incorporated the long British tradition of Working Men's Clubs to act - through humour and warmth - as an arena for debate on serious issues such housing injustice and local government amenity.
Anna Francis
Anna Francis is an artist whose practice aims to rethink city resources through participatory art interventions, curatorial projects and city development. Through this she aims to investigate the impact that artists can have on their environments. Within Anna's practice she creates situations for herself, the public and other artists to explore places differently: often experimenting with leading and instruction by creating manuals, kits or leading guided tours. Recent projects have included garden developments, and currently the transformation of a disused pub into a community space and social enterprise.
Rebecca and Anna collaborate on The Portland Inn Project in Stoke-on-Trent, which creates space that encourages people-led improvement and change within the local area through arts and cultural activity via the revitalisation of the Portland Inn pub.
