George and the Drag Queen

With three actors, a changing set and Pipeline Theatre’s trademark immersive soundscape, this show will take you on an unlikely, funny, heart-warming journey.

Join Maddie, George and Usman at the local village fete. Usman is a drag queen and has been booked to open the fete. Maddy and George are St. John Ambulance volunteers. George is distracted by the day, by intrusive thoughts bubbling up from his military past, and more so by the fact that he and Usman have met before. Meanwhile Usman is waiting to find out if his homeland is now safe and whether he must go back.

The play highlights the complexity of modern debates around migration, gender identity, Englishness and community, showing how ordinary people can become caught between compassion, prejudice, loyalty and fear, while searching for understanding and connection.
