ARLIS Serials Committee - Collection Care for Print Serials Workshop

The ARLIS UK & Ireland Serials Committee are organising an in-person half-day workshop on the conservation of print serials at the UCL Object Based Learning Laboratory (UCL Wilkins Refectory) on Wednesday 5th August 2026.

This workshop will be led by the UCL Special Collections Conservation team and will cover aspects of the care and conservation of rare and standard print serials aimed to support colleagues including librarians, archivists, and other heritage sector workers.

The session will address common conservation and preservation issues, present case studies of recent projects, and provide attendees with up-to-date resources and tools for managing collection care. The workshop has been informed by survey responses from those who expressed early interest in this event and are involved in the care of print serial collections in institutions across the UK.

The workshop will take place between 13:00 pm and 17:00 pm (17:30 including optional tour of Special Collections stores).

The event is free and open to all, but booking is essential. Ticket sales will close on Monday 3rd August 2026.

The UCL Object Based Learning Laboratory offers step-free access and is wheelchair accessible.
