Douglas and Moss

Rebecca Clare Douglas and Richard Moss are two truly outstanding folk musicians of the highest calibre.  They perform traditional and original folk music based on the history and landscape of the North of England.  They are known for their uncommon. passion, grace and sensitivity.

Clare and Richard met whilst performing with Mike Harding.  They discovered a shared musical connection that blossomed into a unique artistic partnership. Steeped in the rich folk tradition the duo weave a captivating blend of both traditional and original tunes and songs.

Hailing from diverse backgrounds, Clare  is a classically trained violinist with a love for traditional music, whilst Richard is a skilled guitarist with a warm singing voice. He is well known in the northern folk scene performing both solo and as part of Drop the Floor ceilidh band.  Clare and Richard weave their talents together to create a sound rich in both technical mastery and genuine emotion, enchanting audiences with their artistry.

In 2024 they brought out an album together " The Fiddler From the Mountain of Fire"  a collection of  tunes written by Clare  about  the landscape, history and folklore of the Ingleborough area. Both have previously bought out their own albums.

​A distinctive thread weaves through the music of Douglas and Moss: it is a sound that is deeply rooted in their home in North West England - the atmospheric hills, industrial towns and evocative coastlines - alchemised with echoes of their musical experiences in Ireland, Scotland and further distant lands.
