An evening of Irish Christmas Folklore and Songs

Step into the magic of an Irish Christmas with folklorist Michael Fortune and artist and traditional singer Aileen Lambert.

Michael will look at Christmas from an uniquely Irish perspective. Delving into his wealth of research and knowledge, this talk will introduce you to first-hand source customs and traditions found around the country- from Christmas mumming plays and carols, to the keeping of pieces of straw from the Christmas crib and the burning of last year’s Christmas holly. Aileen will enrich the evening with her beautiful traditional songs, including the much loved Enniscorthy Christmas Carol or Wexford Carol as it is also known.
