LOCATION: The School Room, Art Centre Penryn
SESSIONS: one 3-hr session
LEVEL: All levels - returners and first timers

16-18 year old’s welcome if they are accompanied by an adult (parent/carer). The parent/carer will be required to also book onto the class and give consent. Please email us at info@artcentrepenryn.org before booking.

ABOUT THE CLASS:

Join this friendly, expressive and experimental workshop with a focus on working with colour.

We will cover:

• how to expand your interpretation of the human form through colour
• using a range of media and techniques including collage, coloured grounds and colour blocks
• painting with a simple colour palette
• using a mix of media to make drawings
• basic colour theory and how to use this to enhance your life drawing

In this class you will be drawing from the nude model.

Suitable for all levels from Beginners to those wanting added dynamism to their drawing.

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT:

Working from a live model, this workshop includes all paper, drawing and painting materials (pencils, charcoal, soft pastels, chalk, pen, acrylic and gouache paint). Participants are welcome to bring their own paper and materials if desired.

We have A1 and A2 drawing boards and clips with 10 easels for you to use standing or sitting. The drawing boards can also be comfortably used sitting down and resting on trestles.

Please note:

The room temperature will be adjusted using infra-red and fan heaters for the model’s comfort during the session. Please dress appropriately for sessions as the space may get hot.

ABOUT KATE BROAD

As an Educator Kate shares her passion for drawing practice wholeheartedly. Her teaching brings energy and dynamism to the studio space. Always fun but informative, she provides the right balance of guidance and mentoring for all levels from Beginners to Advanced.

Kate Broad is a Cornwall based Artist, Educator and Researcher in drawing practice. She is currently Associate Lecturer in Drawing at Falmouth University, devisor and facilitator of Lifedrawlife, Life Drawing in Cornwall, and Materialimmaterial, immersive creative events.

Educated in 2022 PGCEHE H.E Falmouth University /1993-1995 Royal College of Art M.A RCA /1986-89 Winchester School of Art B.A Hons Textiles.

REFUND/EXCHANGE POLICY

Art Centre Penryn is a small, non-profit organisation and our courses form a really important part of our income, we are therefore not able to offer refunds within 30 days of the course date. We offer the following refund/exchange options:

If it is more than 30 days from the course start date, we can offer a full refund, less the booking fee. Within 30 days days from the course start date, we cannot offer a refund, but we could transfer you to another course, or offer a voucher for you to use to book another course. Alternatively, you could send someone else in your place, please just email us to let us know.

We're sorry, but we are unable to offer a last minute exchange within 24 hrs, or after the course, unless in exceptional circumstances.
