Manipulating 35mm Film Slides

Come along and experiment with film slides to create original, playful photographic images.
Learn new techniques from locally-based artist Stuart Robinson and enjoy a couple of hours in the art room at Art Centre Penryn. 

ABOUT THE CLASS:

In this friendly class we'll learn additive and destructive techniques for manipulating 35mm film slides.

We will:

• Explore alternative, experimental approaches to photography
• Use pre-developed/found photographic slides to create exciting images
• Collage with bits of photographic & 8mm +16mm film, coloured acetates, and halftone negatives
• Draw with markers, scratch, cut and punch holes into the slides
• Create around 10+ experimental slides each and see them projected large on a slide projector
• Receive high-quality digital versions of the slides after the session
• Have fun!

Suitable for beginners – no art or photography experience necessary.

£14 - Cover the cost of the session
£16 - Support more classes for young people

*We would like to run lower-cost and free sessions for young people but we don’t currently have the funding to do so, that’s something we’re working on. Please select the ticket that's right for you and we’ll subsidise these as soon as possible!

MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT

All materials will be provided including a variety of slides to choose from as well as sections of developed still and moving image film, coloured filters and printed acetates.

Various tools and media will be available to use including markers, hole punches, craft knives, scissors, sandpaper and more.
Your final slides will be viewable on Kodak slide projectors as well as being scanned in by Stuart and emailed to you at the end of the session.

You do not need to bring anything to the session but you can bring old negatives or slides to use if you wish.

ABOUT STUART ROBINSON

Stuart Robinson is an Artist and Educator living in Penryn.

Through his professional practice as a multi-process artist, combined with an 18-year career in Further Education, Stuart has built up a variety of skills, processes and teaching methods that he is able to apply to a wide range of flexible creative workshops for a range of age groups and levels, with proven experience working with multiple art centres across the county.

REFUND/EXCHANGE POLICY

Art Centre Penryn is a small, non-profit organisation and our courses form a really important part of our income, we are therefore not able to offer refunds within 30 days of the course date. We offer the following refund/exchange options:

If it is more than 30 days from the course start date, we can offer a full refund, less the booking fee. Within 30 days days from the course start date, we cannot offer a refund, but we could transfer you to another course, or offer a voucher for you to use to book another course. Alternatively, you could send someone else in your place, please just email us to let us know.

We're sorry, but we are unable to offer a last minute exchange within 72 hrs, or after the course, unless in exceptional circumstances. This is because we may not be able to re-sell the ticket and would therefore not be able to cover our costs.
