Black and White Street Portraits: A Masterclass with Arteh Odjidja Friday 26th and Saturday 27th June 2026, London
Learn how to photograph strangers with confidence, respect and intention.
You own a camera you love. You have an instinct for people and their stories. But when you look at your work honestly, something is missing. A point of view. A consistent voice. The kind of portraits that make people stop scrolling and actually feel something.
You know what you want to create. You just haven't found your way there yet.
Maybe the idea of walking up to a complete stranger and asking to photograph them fills you with dread. Maybe you've been shooting for years but still can't point to a body of work that feels authentically yours. Maybe you're tired of consuming other people's photography and ready to finally commit to your own vision.
This masterclass was built for that moment.
Over two days in London, you will work directly with Arteh Odjidja, portrait photographer, author, speaker and former Leica Akademie workshop leader, whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, and has been exhibited at institutions including Tate Modern and the British Museum. His eight year documentary project The Stranger Series has captured the faces and stories of migrants and refugees across the world.
Arteh doesn't just teach you how to use your camera. He teaches you how to see. How to connect. How to walk up to a stranger with warmth and intention and walk away with a portrait that means something.
What You'll Master
Using his signature S.T.R.E.E.T.S. framework, you'll learn a repeatable approach to finding and framing your subject with intention. His C.O.N.N.E.C.T. method gives you the human skills to build trust with a stranger in under a minute. Technical mastery of your camera. Building a consistent body of work that reflects your unique voice. And crucially, the courage to overcome fear and show up authentically in the streets.
You will leave this masterclass with refined technical skills, a curated portfolio of your own work, and something harder to put a price on: the certainty that you are a photographer with something real to say.
Your Environment
Two days in a supportive, focused environment with a small group of serious photographers. You're not competing. You're learning together, challenging each other, and growing together.
No more excuses. No more scrolling. Just you, your camera, and the streets of London.
