Etching full day workshop and lunch at Coombeshead Farm
Spend a day at Coombeshead creating etchings inspired by seasonal produce and the garden, and enjoy a stunning farm lunch, on Saturday 7th November 10am-4pm.
Join artist printmaker Mary Bowen to explore this magical printmaking process, using inspiration from autumn produce and the farm garden, to plan and print your own unique etching print. During the day you will design, make and print an etching plate using specialist tools, cartridge paper and a range of artist quality colourful inks.
The day will be held at Coombeshead farmhouse. All materials and aprons will be provided along with a delicious Coombeshead restaurant lunch and hot drinks throughout the day. This workshop is perfect for either beginners or someone with more experience of printmaking. Everyone will be learning, so no prior experience is required to join us. Each stage will be fully explained and demonstrated to make sure everyone feels confident in what they are doing. The day will be lots of fun and you will leave with a range of stunning prints on paper.
What you will learn-
- How to plan a successful composition
- How to create a Tetrapak etching plate using specialist printing tools
- How to ink up and print your plate onto paper using an etching press
The course will be run by local artist-educator Mary Bowen, who has taught art and printmaking for the last 16 years in colleges, schools, charities and for private workshops in venues across Devon. Mary studied fine art (printmaking) at the University of Falmouth and works as an artist on Dartmoor.
