On November 16, Artists & Mothers will host its first gala — a family-friendly afternoon that reimagines the traditional benefit party, with interactive works by leading contemporary artists and fun for all ages.
Artists & Mothers is a nonprofit organization founded in 2024 with a mission to support artists who identify as mothers. Awarded to NYC-based artists with children under the age of three, grantees receive a $25,000 for 9 months of childcare to be used with the provider of their choice.
The event will include Ei Arakawa-Nash’s interactive installation Please Draw Freely (first presented at the Tate); an installation by Maia Ruth Lee; a video piece by Aki Goto, a window installation by Lisa Alvarado, a dazzling Step & Repeat by Farah Al Qasimi; a set by the art world ventriloquist Sophie Becker; special works by Abby Lloyd, a musical performance by 2025 A&M grant recipient Cecilia Lopez and Zeena Parkins; DJ's, dancing, and more.
