The Insect Circus (LITTLE VENICE)

The Insect Circus invites the audience to forget reality and become immersed in the strange and beautiful world of the Insect Circus. Beetles and grasshoppers, wasps and dragonflies, demonstrate their dexterity with great skill and humour. Presented using marionettes, the show breathes new life into the traditional techniques used in Victorian trick marionettes.

This show has no words and is accessible to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

This show is made up of short acts and simple storylines which can be followed and enjoyed by 3-4-year olds but also uses some slightly more complex ideas and humour that older children might get more out of. There is nothing really scary in this show but it does use dramatic music and lighting, for example the theatre will go dark during the performance which some children might find unsettling and the characters may face some perils. 

All ages are welcome at our shows and age ranges can only be a rough guide, but please bear in mind that The Insect Circus was not specially designed for under-threes. A show aimed at two-year olds would have some differences – those shows are carefully made to hold their attention for the duration, and not to be unsettling for them. If you do bring under threes to the show, we ask that you take them out if they become upset or distracted so as not to effect the enjoyment of the rest of the audience.
