Parai Drumming Workshop

Discover the energy and excitement of Parai drumming, one of the world's oldest frame drums, in a fun, interactive community workshop.

Whether you're completely new to drumming or simply looking to try something different, these workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn traditional rhythms, build confidence, and enjoy making music together in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Workshop Schedule

🧒 Session 1 – Children (Ages 8–14)
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm

👥 Session 2 – Young People & Adults (Ages 15+)
2:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Led by Karthik Kamalakannan, Trainer & Founder of Tamil Arts UK, you'll learn the fundamentals of Parai drumming through hands-on activities suitable for beginners.

What you'll experience

• Discover the history and cultural significance of Parai
• Build confidence through music and movement
• Meet new people in a friendly community setting

No previous musical experience is required. Drums will be provided.
