Ashgate Hospice Light Up A Life - Lantern Procession and Ceremony

Before our Light Up a Life procession and ceremony, you will be sent a lantern in the post to bring with you to the event. Many people choose to decorate their lanterns, often with photos and writing, in memory of their loved ones.

Our lantern procession will start at 5pm from St Thomas Centre on Chatsworth Road and make its way up to the hospice. Parking will be available at Morrisons from 4pm. If you require parking, please add one parking ticket per vehicle for your group.

The procession is 1.6 miles long and the route is suitable for wheelchairs and prams, although please be aware that there is a gradual incline leading up to the hospice.

Once at the hospice, we will hold a short remembrance ceremony starting at 6pm in the beautifully lit hospice gardens. There will be touching music, readings and refreshments. After the ceremony, buses will be available to take you back to your car at Morrisons.

Each person attending the event will need to reserve a place. It is FREE to reserve your place at the event and FREE to book a parking space.

One glass jar per person will be provided and can be collected ahead of the event, which people may choose to decorate in memory of their loved ones. Lights for your jars will be available on the night. If you reserve your place in the weeks leading up to the event and haven't collected a jar, please don't worry - there will be plenty available at St. Thomas' Centre before the procession begins.
