Description
Sustainability 'Quick Wins' and more
Following on from the successful face to face event held in September last year, the AOP’s Sustainability Group will host an online webinar that will look at the feedback from our previous event, as well as:
- Taking action and achieving some 'quick wins'
- Green initiatives that members can get onboard with
- Completing the AOP’s sustainability survey
- Developing a sustainability policy for the AOP
The format of the evening will be a ‘chat style’ discussion providing help and advice – so please come along, no matter where you are on sustainability journey.
Guest Speakers
Holly McGlynn, Accredited Photographer and AOP Member Director
An award-winning fashion photographer, Holly began her photography career as a street-style photographer for Company Magazine. Holly worked her way towards shooting editorials for magazines such as L’Officiel, Stylist, Elle Australia and Glamour USA as well as brands such as Chanel, Levi’s, John Lewis, and Fabergé. Acknowledging the role she plays in shaping the media we consume, Holly is committed to promoting diversity in the fashion and beauty industries.
Combining her passion for climate action and communication, Holly is also a PR consultant for brands in the sustainability sector and involved in climate-based community organisation. Supporting the next generation of creative talent is something Holly has developed over many years as a lecturer in Fashion Communication at University of Creative Arts, Epson, as a short course tutor in Fashion Photography at Central St Martins and a visiting lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London and Arts University Plymouth.
Holly is currently an AOP non-executive board member, and chair of the Sustainability Working Group.
Carol Sharp, AOP Accredited Photographer
During more than 30 years as a studio based photographer Carol has worked in the still life and food genre - mainly in the Design Sector, but now her passion is plants and their world. Her commissioned jobs support and inform her fine art practice, an ongoing inquiry into the philosophy of the deep ecology of plants, celebrating plants for their own sake rather thanviewing them as resources for humans.
As a member of nearly 30 years and an environmental activist, Carol is passionate about finding ways that AOP members can work more sustainably. All her equipment is bought second hand and repaired wherever possible, a route which she also pursues in her home life. Now living and working in rural Norfolk, she is Co-ordinator of South Norfolk Green Party as well as on steering groups of local environmental initiatives.
She approaches everything through the sustainable lens and aims to live and work in ‘elegant frugality’.
Hat Margolies, Lucid Representation and AOP Member Director & Agent
Hat Margolies is an London agent and producer, keen to bring sustainable working practices to our industry. Bringing boxed water and using cycle cargo bikes on shoots whenever possible - helping to make the small changes that collectively make an impact.

Kai Bastard (and yes, that is his real surname) is the Founder & CEO of BAD STAR Studios, a full-service creative and virtual production agency. He is dedicated to helping forward-thinking organizations reduce their carbon emissions while enhancing their creative delivery. Specialising in complex photographic productions, blending CGI, creative retouching and modern technologies together to deliver campaigns that are creatively ambitious while being environmentally conscious and more sustainable.
Angus Light, CEO / Head of Production - Locate Productions
Starting out as a runner in 1998 at a location company in London, prior to the world going digital when we still scouted on film, Angus was soon producing shoots around the UK and Europe for a range of the UK’s leading agencies. Angus is one of the founders of Locate Productions which was set up in 2005 to service the production needs of photographers, ad agencies and brands.
Over the past few years Locate Productions has been at the forefront of helping the UK production industry tailor its approach to reaching net zero targets, contributing to the Ad Assoc Ad Net Zero 2030 report and the Ad Green Carbon Calculator. We’re particularly excited to see how increasingly the advertising industry is being used as a force for positive change in society through its ability to help tackle the climate crisis through its messaging and promote equality and diversity
