Justice delayed is justice denied: how to bring damages claims for delays in Parole cases
Tue 8 Apr 2025 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
No.5 Chambers, WC2R 0EX
Description
As the latest Parole Board annual report acknowledges, the number of compensation claims is on the rise. The report suggests that “this may be a result of additional pressures and increased throughput of cases the Parole Board has seen.” It is also clear from the report that damages claims provide an important incentive for the Parole Board to tackle delays and inefficiencies.
It is important that prison law practitioners are equipped to challenge delay where appropriate.
This seminar, at No5 Chambers in London, with an option for hybrid participation, will equip practitioners to spot and bring civil claims for clients affected by Parole Board delays.
Cost: £10 APL members / £25 non-APL members
Speakers include:
- Stuart Withers, barrister No5 Chambers
- Dave Shaw, solicitor Instalaw and Scott-Moncrieff and Associates
- Andrew Sperling, Solicitor-Advocate and Director SL5 Legal
For those attending in person, the seminar will be followed by drinks.
