“CONVENTION” WRISTBANDS AND COLLECTABLES

                   Advance Booking Closes at 10pm on Thursday 22nd August.  Wristbands and collectables may be available for purchase in person from event control at Castle Hill Friday 23rd-Monday26th August. 

Weekend at the Asylum is the world’s largest Steampunk festival. It has been enjoyed by tens of thousands of people over the last fifteen years and is held in the City of Lincoln which traces its history back for more than two millennia.

First and foremost, Weekend at the Asylum is a convention style event. It is a gathering of Steampunk enthusiasts looking to share their hobby with other enthusiasts from around the world. To participate fully in the Weekend you need a wristband. These are available for single days or for all four days of the event. They cover all of the daytime content only. Evening events and catered features are ticketed entirely separately.

This year your wristband grants you access to the County Assembly Rooms, Westgate School, Lincoln Castle Ward and the Castle’s Steampunk zone which includes the Heritage Skills Centre, marquees and the Victorian Men’s Prison. Here you will find an extensive programme of exhibitors, workshops, talks, displays, games, features and convention only traders.

If you don’t wish to join in with the convention you can purchase castle admission which will allow you into the Castle Ward and the features there. (NB This does NOT include the Castle’s convention Steampunk zone and marquees). Finally you can just pop along to the Bailgate area for free to enjoy the spectacle of the event and access to the free markets. Please be aware that for logistical and security reasons only weekend and Monday wristband holders can participate in the grand promenade. 

Of course we are aware of the problems faced by the economy and budgets are squeezed tightly. Weekend at the Asylum does not receive any financial support and has always been proud to operate entirely on income from wristband and ticket sales. We have worked hard this year to reduce our costs and are proud to say we are holding almost all of them at or below our 2022 levels. Furthermore we are offering free wristbands to all under 17s when accompanied by a paying adult so we are much more affordable than comparable fan conventions and comicons etc.  We hope this helps. Indeed if you have children you will find Monday convention bands work out cheaper than Castle entry alone if you are a family.

When you buy wristbands you will receive an electronic confirmation. Keep this safe. Bring it along to event control on Castle Hill during the event (Friday to Monday from 10am) or other locations as advertised to claim your wristbands.

Free carer’s tickets are available to ADULT wristband holders. Buy your own wristband and show your PIP/DLA entitlement letter at control when you collect it. Your carer will be given an equivalent wristband to yours. There is no need to prebook for your carer.

Merchandise and collectables are pre order for collection only. You will need to bring your purchase confirmation with you to event control on Castle Hill during opening hours to collect your items.  We are sorry but we are unable to offer any form of mail order fulfilment. Update - we are now sold out of the original colourway of Maroon in t-shirts S/M/L/XL.   A handful are available in these sizes in Cardinal red.
