Carmen's Voice

Wed 25 Nov 2026 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM Trafalgar Warehouse, S1 4JT

Bizet’s Carmen is one of the most performed operas in the world. But what happens when the women whose experiences echo through its story are given a voice in how that story is told?

Carmen’s Voice is a new adaptation of Bizet’s opera, created by Atelier Armonico in collaboration with IDAS, and developed through creative workshops with survivors of domestic and sexual abuse in Yorkshire. Their lived experiences and perspectives have shaped the themes, language and dramatic world of the production, bringing Carmen into direct conversation with the realities of women’s lives today.

Come and experience this contemporary Carmen that champions real women’s voices and reflects our belief that opera can be urgent, risk-taking and genuinely inclusive.
