Americans We: Celebrating our Shared Story in Music

Taking place just two weeks before the Semiquincentennial, AFB celebrates the diverse collection of voices that make up our country on its 250th birthday. The program will include works from composers from different regions with a range of ethnicities and styles. To celebrate the anniversary, AFB will commission a new work for wind band from Georgia composer Christopher Kyle Green. A graduate of Kennesaw State University, Green has built an impressive collection of music. He was also one of AFB’s student composers at the beginning of the program.

We are excited to invite you to experience the concert in a new venue, the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College. This state-of-the-art performance venue features a beautiful auditorium, a large stage, more plentiful and comfortable seating, and plenty of nearby parking. We can't wait to see you there!

AFB's Season 33 concerts have the unifying theme "No Places Like Home", with each celebrating a place we call home. Our holiday concert celebrated the City of Atlanta, and our March concert featured Georgia composers. We look forward to seeing you at our season-closing concert "Americans We".

The concert will also stream live from AFB’s YouTube channel.

The concert program features:

"Mother of a Revolution" by Omar Thomas
"Conversations" by Chandler Wilson
"She Dares, She Leaps" by Erika Svanoe
"American Overture for Band" by Joseph Wilcox Jenkins
"Elegy for a Young American" by Ronald Lo Presti
"Fanfare for Freedom" by Quincy Hilliard
Premiere: "We the People" by Christopher Kyle Green
"Adoration" by Florence Price
"From Atlanta to the Sea" by Frank Duarte
"Promise of Living" by Aaron Copland
"The Soulful Sixties" arr. Michael Brown

PARKING is available along West End Ave, in a grassy lot near the theater, and in the campus parking deck (entrance on Greensferry Ave SW).

An ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCE is available from the accessible parking spots in the lot behind the theater with a flat path to the front entrance.
